TOTAL ARTS

Total Recreation has expanded its arts programs offering genuine quality arts medium opportunities with expert guidance and in instruction.

With the opportunity to try new art mediums, guided by professional instructors, members have  exhibited their works in public exhibitions, produced sellable art related products and have had the opportunity to sell their art to private and corporate buyers.

Totally Arts programs incorporate six week art workshops, (day, weekend & overnight) field trips to ensure that members get the best opportunity for inspiration and to see various art exibitions, displays and to meet artists and what inspires them.

Totally Focused

Training members in the use of SLR cameras Carly O'Neil from Photo Biz instructed members in all things photography.

Members were introduced to camera basics and over a six week period learned the more technical side of photography shutter speed, light, balance etc. Each members was assigned an SLR camera and given the opportunity to take photos in various locations.

In conjunction with in class training the photographers were taken on field trips and excursions including a over night weekend trip to the Katherine region.

The best photos from each members port folio were chosen by a panel and then exhibited in the Hub (a public exhibition space) in the Darwin city mall. Selected photos were also collated and used to produce a Totally Focused calendar, these were then sold to the public and given to Total Recreation sponsors and supporters.

The success of the photography program saw two members secure photography contracts to take photos at festivals and events  around Darwin.

 Crafty Arts Workshop

Building on previously conducted arts and craft programs Total recreation stepped up it Crafty Arts program to include to amazing Acrylic Pour training. The Six week program will include alternate two week workshops conducted in house.

Potentially the first of its kind the Acrylic Pour workshop for members saw quality results and enjoyment from members who participated.

Many of the pieces produced by members have now lead to a collaboration and commissiond to produce works for a charity auction.

The Crafty Arts program continues with some exciting events and opportunities in the near future.
