Total Recreation provides sports participation, pathway and representative opportunities for Territorians with an intellectual disability. Coordinating in-school sports programs, active recreation, social competition and fitness programs builds exposure and skill development. Through sports participation and skill development Total Recreation support opportunity for mainstream participation and representative sports programs.

School Sport

Coordinating the sports programs across special education schools and annexes in Darwin and Palmerston, Total Recreation engage NT sporting organisations to deliver sports specific session to students.

 

Educating students from preschool through to high school, some of the sports delivered include athletics, swimming, soccer, AFL, softball, cricket, basketball and more. School sports sessions develop skills and are used at Total Recreation multi school gala days.

 

Gala days are an invitation for students to attend fun, physically active events off school campus. Gala days include the all schools swimming carnival, athletics, sport and multisport days as well as the Adventure Race. 

Sports

Total Recreation offers a range of sports specific programs and opportunities, some of these sports activities are social focusing on participation with others programs for more serious athletes looking at  pathway or representative opportunities. 

Total Recreation works closely with State Sporting Organisations providing support to grow inclusion opportunities, this includes initial participation, club through to representation at NT and national competitions.

Representative Sport

In line with sport participation opportunities Total Recreation support representative sport opportunities including national events in AFL, Netball, Tenpin Bowling, Special Olympics and can assist sports with eligibility.

Total Recreation are the reprasentative organisation for Sports Inclusion Australia (SIA) in the Northern Territory. SIA provide the eligibility accreditation for interlectually classified events and competitions, for more information on Sports Inclusion Australia click here.

Eligibility

To compete at representative events most sports require particpating athletes to provide eligibility accreditation, accreditation is provided by Sports Inclusion Australia.  Application documents for school sport, national and international sport can be found here.

Sport Referals

Total Recreation run several programs in collaboration with individual sports and can also assist with referrals to sports either through clubs, NT sporting organisations or existing sporting networks. Call us to find out more.
